Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has urged MADANI Communities nationwide to share the responsibility of ensuring accurate and reliable information about government initiatives reaches the public. Speaking at the Jiwa MADANI programme in Kota Bharu on June 16, Fadzil stressed that this task should not rest solely with official agencies like the Information Department (JAPEN) and Community Communications Department (J-KOM).

The minister highlighted several recent policy successes worthy of wider dissemination. Government efforts to maintain food security have included sustaining adequate rice supplies during festive periods through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. Under the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS) administered by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, subsidised packet cooking oil has become consistently available to consumers after previous supply challenges.

Fahmi noted these achievements, implemented under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's administration, demonstrate the importance of active community engagement in public communication. During the event, he distributed appointment letters to Kelantan MADANI Community leaders for the 2026-2027 term.

To support this mission, the Communications Ministry will conduct regular briefing sessions for community leaders on current developments and policy initiatives requiring grassroots communication. JAPEN has received instructions to assess MADANI Community performance and ensure sustained effectiveness in local-level information distribution.

Fahmi indicated that underperforming or inactive community groups would face consequences. "We will ask JAPEN to act swiftly if any MADANI Community is found to be inactive. If that happens, we will make the necessary changes, including replacing those who are not performing," he said.
