Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for Malaysia to channel its energies into technological advancement and economic development rather than becoming embroiled in political conflicts. Speaking at the PH Grand Rally "Justice for the People of Johor" in Muar on June 15, Anwar stressed that the government's primary objective should centre on drawing foreign capital for AI initiatives and data centre infrastructure, alongside quantum computing exploration.
The Prime Minister highlighted his recent visit to Japan, during which discussions on quantum technology advancement took place. He contended that these technological pursuits are essential for securing Malaysia's competitive standing in the global economy and ensuring prosperity for future generations. Anwar emphasised that the nation's development trajectory depends on moving beyond perpetual factional disagreements over cultural and religious matters.
"For our children, their future lies in AI and quantum. So we must work toward that. If politics is just about fighting day in and day out over Chinese, Malay, Indian, temples, and mosques, just endless bickering, when are we going to take care of this country?" he questioned during the rally. PKR Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa and Johor PH Chairman Aminolhuda Hassan were also in attendance.
Anwar urged all Malaysians, regardless of ethnicity, to unite in nation-building efforts. He remarked that international investors are increasingly eyeing Malaysia as a destination, requiring minimal promotional campaigns. "Rise up Malaysians - Malay, Chinese, Indian - work together, build this nation, elevate this country into a great nation, because we can do it," he stated.
As both PKR President and PH Chairman, Anwar warned political leaders against exploiting communal sentiments for electoral advantage. He advocated for a leadership approach grounded in addressing genuine public concerns and fostering social cohesion rather than capitalising on divisive emotions.
