Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has emphasised that Malaysia's economic advancement and development initiatives must translate into tangible benefits for all segments of the population, with particular emphasis on rural and grassroots communities. Addressing participants at a Hi-Tea gathering with fishing communities, farmers and residents at Pantai Leka Food Court in Muar on June 15, he underscored the importance of inclusive growth.
The Prime Minister cautioned that national development strategies cannot afford to concentrate solely on large infrastructure projects or cutting-edge technology adoption. Instead, these efforts should demonstrably enhance the lives of agricultural producers, fishermen, rice cultivators and small business operators who form the backbone of rural economies.
While acknowledging the strategic importance of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and digital transformation, Anwar stressed that the MADANI Government prioritises the economic welfare and earning capacity of rural populations. He highlighted the government's commitment to channelling social safety nets and targeted assistance through relevant agencies to reach intended beneficiaries.
Anwar directed Cabinet members and political leaders nationwide to increase their field engagements, personally meeting with communities to understand their difficulties and implement responsive solutions. He argued that authentic leadership requires the willingness to champion the concerns of ordinary citizens and prevent marginalisation during the country's modernisation journey.
The Prime Minister stressed that development gains demand equitable distribution across society, guaranteeing that ordinary people experience concrete improvements in their daily circumstances and quality of life.
