Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Johor residents to vote for leaders who demonstrate integrity and wisdom, steering clear of those who become arrogant upon gaining power. Speaking at a Pakatan Harapan rally in Muar on June 15, the coalition's chairman stressed that voters bear responsibility for selecting representatives who will safeguard the interests of ordinary citizens and vulnerable communities.
Anwar highlighted how certain political factions resort to inflaming racial divisions to secure support, only to neglect public welfare once in office. He cautioned against allowing hatred and divisive rhetoric to drive voting decisions, urging citizens instead to consider the consequences for the nation's future, schools, hospitals, and younger generations. Responsible leadership, he argued, requires focusing on resolving citizens' grievances rather than pursuing self-interest after election victories.
The Prime Minister underscored the significance of alignment between state and federal administrations in advancing development. A Johor government working in sync with Kuala Lumpur would enable smoother policy implementation, equitable distribution of resources, and broader benefits from major projects like the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and Port of Tanjung Pelepas expansion. While acknowledging the incumbent state administration's contributions, Anwar stressed that the Federal Government has driven execution of these initiatives.
Anwar encouraged all Johor voters, including those residing elsewhere, to return home for the July 11 state election. He stressed that every ballot carries weight in reshaping state policies and ensuring economic growth reaches grassroots communities. Securing a Pakatan Harapan victory, he argued, is essential for transforming Johor's governance priorities and focusing state representatives' attention on serving ordinary residents.
